Novalipa, LLC ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Kayak Flow (the "App").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide In the App

Location Names and Notes: Custom names and notes you create for kayak launch sites

Launch Conditions: Minimum and maximum tide heights you set for specific locations

User Preferences: Temperature, wind, precipitation, and current speed limits for favorable conditions

Notification Settings: Whether you enable push notifications for favorable kayaking conditions

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

Device Location: Your current GPS location (only when you grant permission)  is used when you create a launch site to find nearby locations of Tide Prediction and Current Prediction stations. Alternatively, you can search for an chose a location for your launch site manually, without sharing your location, and that location will be used to find nearby stations. 

App Usage Data: Basic app functionality data to improve performance and user experience and to trace defects.

All information is stored locally on the device or on Apple's developer support infrastructure. It is not stored on any Novalipa, LLC infrastructure.

2.3 Third-Party Data Sources

We integrate with the following services to provide weather and tide information for the App:

Apple WeatherKit: For weather forecasts, temperature, wind, precipitation, and daylight information

NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration): For tide predictions and current data from official tide and current stations

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Core App Functionality

Provide weather forecasts and tide predictions for your selected locations

Analyze conditions to identify favorable kayaking times based on your preferences

Send push notifications about favorable conditions (if enabled)

Store your custom launch sites and preferences locally on your device

3.2 Data Processing

Local Storage: All your custom data (locations, preferences, notes) is stored locally on your device using SwiftData

Real-time Analysis: Process weather and tide data to determine favorable kayaking conditions

Background Processing: Analyze conditions when the app is closed to provide timely notifications

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 We Do Not Share Your Personal Data

We do not store, sell, rent, or trade your personal information

We do not share your location data, custom launch sites, or preferences with third parties. 

Your data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

4.2 Third-Party Services

Apple WeatherKit: Weather data requests include only the stored coordinates of your selected locations, not your current device location.

NOAA API: Tide and current data requests include only station IDs and date ranges. No personally identifiable information is included in the requests.

These services have their own privacy policies governing their data collection

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your purchase and App license information if required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

5. Data Security

All your custom data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework

Location data is only accessed when you grant permission and is used solely for finding nearby tide stations

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Location Permissions

You can grant or deny location access at any time through your device settings

Location is only used to find nearby tide stations. Current location is not stored or transmitted

You can manually search for locations without granting location permission

6.2 Notification Preferences

You can enable or disable push notifications through the app settings

Notifications are sent locally and do not require data transmission nor do they involve external servers.

6.3 Data Management

You can delete custom launch sites at any time through the app

All data is stored locally and can be removed by deleting the app

7. Data Retention

Local Data: Your custom data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app

Weather/Tide Data: Retrieved data is cached temporarily for performance and automatically refreshed

Location Data: Your current location is not stored and is only used temporarily for station lookup

8. Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request information about our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Since we do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes, no such disclosure occurs.

This app is designed for use in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.
